You're all evil.

You're evil and I hate you and you're evil.

Grumble, grumble, grumble.

Gasp! The unthinkable has happened!

I wonder, is the sky going to fall and the world end, or is is safe to come out from under my desk? ;}

I have been bad at keeping up these past few days, but I'm trying to catch up a bit today. No idea if it'll work, but I've written a bit for the chain story thing in any case. ^_^

This is turning out to be a really fun experience. It's getting easier and easier to write. Not that the quality or quantity is going up, but it's no longer about pulling teeth or flogging myself. I love it.

I'm enjoying myself as well, although I'm finding it harder to come up with ideas as the 30 days progress, not easier. I also think the quality of my submissions has gone down over the past week or so, but it's probably because I'm been sick. Still, posting (far) less than perfect writings has been good for me, and so has the discipline. And some days I've been pleasantly surprised at my output. Only trouble is, I can't wait to start revising some of the better pieces I've written.

Welcome aboard, THG. You're gonna love it. ^_^

Since a lot of people have hit the halfway mark or more, who is up for a follow-up challenge? 30 days of revising and editing! Each day you have to revise and edit something you wrote during your 30 days of creativity (obviously). I know that after Nanowrimo there is a month for editing what you wrote that month, I think it would be suitable.

NaNoEdMo used to be in March...

And then they canceled it.

I think the hard part about trying that here is the fact that really, some of the stuff you write in the 30 days will suck, and there's nothing left to do but scrap it and start anew. It would be interesting to try, though.

Editing is different, yeah. I don't think the rules should be replicated from Marrow's challenge. You wouldn't have to edit something new everyday, but you would have to edit something everyday. I think that's a useful follow-up. As writers we're bound to produce a lot of trash, but we have to sift through it to find the gold. I think there's a big chance that what we do in Marrow's challenge might be left hanging unless we do something with it.

The goal is to start a habit of writing and that's a good goal, but the material produced should be considered too, not just automatically thrown on the scrapheap.

I think Roux has a good idea. I'm literally dying to work on some of the stuff I've written so far during the 30 days (hrm, okay, not literally). Some of it will be scrapped, yes, but some of it can be salvaged and made into something. Some of it needs to be rewritten entirely, so I think that should be allowed as well. Anything to help me (and everyone) get into a healthy routine of writing and editing = goodness.

Editing? Wazzat?

Just kidding. ^_^ I usually edit as I go, and I've found editing something I've written previously tricky. Guess I could do with the practice!

I'm willing to edit something each week, but I don't know if I'd be able to produce enough to edit every day. I'd be willing to develop a few more paragraphs of a long term project every day, but not edit it.

My problem is that I've just been promoted to be a full time trainer in my department~ with a specific eye towards writing a whole new curriculum, syllabus, and evaluation system. Visual aids and study materials required. I'm wonderfully excited. I think the program has a good foundation to build on, but needs a lot of work to get it where it needs to be. I'm projecting the basics to be done around the end of November.

It's one reason my 30 days is so light minded and short. I'm using it as a cornerstone to sanity.

How about this: I am willing to write something for an additional 30 days, to include editing on previous items.

:/ Can I still play...?

I think that sounds swell. How's this, I'll write up and post guidelines for the 30 days of developing and editing your ideas from the 30 day creative challenge? I'll even come up with a shorter and less confusing name! At the very least an amusing acronym. I'll implement what's been said here, I think it'll be great. People can post to sign-up once they're done with their 30 days of creativity or some such.

I feel so dirty...almost halfway through July and I'm nowhere near finished with this contest. Guess I shouldn't have joined when I was jetting off to Cleveland for work.

I can haz restart?
