We are in the process of updating our method of updating. Yesterday we added an auto-upgrader to the blog to keep up with recent additions there. Today we are going to be adding a direct-link to the blog onto this front page. We are also working on updating the aesthetics of the site as well. With so many changes, who knows: perhaps this method of updating the news feed will disappear!

As we draw closer to the publication date, it never hurts to give an update or two concerning the status of the zine.

We're evaluating submissions as they come in, but this time of year always seems exceptionally busy. We're also looking into design of the second issue - something that can be discussed or elaborated on the forums. We look forward to publishing in the near future, and encourage you to keep sending in those submissions.

As our zine nears publication time, we'd like to remind you that our submission process is a rolling one, so you're free to submit whenever you'd like to.

We've had a quick change in organization - our zine organizer, Shane Lee, has temporarily stepped down, so I will be filling in for the remainder of this zine. Submissions are being handled regularly; we expect to publish before the end of Q4.

Lastly, we're celebrating Locution's birthday this week. We're approaching our first year, and we'd like to thank everyone who's participated in this project, as well as welcome any who would like to come join our community. We host writers, poets, and artists of all kinds. Happy birthday, Locution.

This month we have made a number of changes. We have put up the lovely donation button that appears above this post, we are looking for new and inventive ways to encourage submissions for the second coming zine, and we are currently in the process of searching a viable printer so that we might be able to distribute the zine.

Beyond that, we are looking to have a publication date of late Q3 or early Q4 for our second zine. Please try to submit your works by September 10th in order to ensure that we have enough time to evaluate them and work them into the zine.

Locution is now officially accepting photography and illustration submissions for future magazines!

From our Submission Guidelines:

Art Submissions

Photography and illustrations are soon to be presented in Locution Magazine, with standards equal to our literary submissions. If you feel your work has particular artistic merit, you may query a singular piece or related series to our art editor at art@locution-zine.com.

You may also choose to gauge your work and/or participate in Locution Forums' new Audio and Visual Subforum.

We're excited about seeing your work.

Apparently, I need to update this more often: January, wow?

We have been active on the forums, and active on the magazine! I'm sure you'll notice the Zines button, and that it's filled with our first-shot effort, Locution Zine Issue 1. Download the PDF to understand what we've been working on, and to see the standards we're hoping for our authors.

This also means we're getting right back to building Issue 2, so we encourage you to polish up your work in our critique forum and submit your efforts via e-mail.

These are exciting times: as much for the members as they are for the editors. Join the community to find out how you can get involved.

Forum Registration slightly altered, but there shouldn't be a problem. If you have any issues registering, please e-mail me at: aarinedwards 'at' gmail.com

Article-Hub Page added per Silk's request (good idea) and some typographical changes have been made.

Smooth update, this time.

10 / 04 / 2007 - Stress Test

Internal Submissions for Ex-CW members and Locution members is now open! This is an attempt to test our system as well, so please follow the procedures expected of other submitters—you will, of course, be able to see it appear in the private forums, but let us do it for ceremony’s sake.

We’ll need lots of submissions, so I request everyone show 5-10 pieces if you can! It doesn’t have to be good, in fact. THG has mentioned, for example, that we want to test the whole thing (including this announcement), so we need submissions we turn down as well, so don’t be shy!

Happy submitting!

Worry not, I can easily tweak stuff, including the banner and welcome message. We are now at basic launch.
